Horseshoe Las Vegas is a casino hotel on Las Vegas Boulevard in Paradise, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Caesars tertainmt. It originally opened as the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino on December 4, 1973. The 26-story hotel had 2,100 rooms and was one of the largest hotels in the world.
On November 21, 1980, the MGM Grand suffered one of the worst garden fires in US history, killing 85 people. The MGM Grand was rebuilt at a cost of $50 million and reopened on July 29, 1981 with new fire protection features. Another 26-story tower opened later that year, adding more than 700 rooms. Bally’s Officially Becomes Horseshoe In December 2022
In 1986, Bally Manufacturing bought the resort and turned it into Bally’s Las Vegas. Sister property Paris Las Vegas opened next door to Bally’s in 1999. In 2015, Bally’s added an outdoor mall, Grand Bazaar Shops. The resort has been a long-standing Jubilee! a theater performance that ran from 1981 to 2016.
After the vacation, Caesars tertainmt renamed the property to Horseshoe Las Vegas on December 15, 2022. It is named after the original Binion’s Horseshoe casino in downtown Las Vegas. In 2023, it was announced that the resort would lose its Jubilee Tower to the Paris Las Vegas, reducing the number of rooms at the Horseshoe.
Opened in July 1967. It was built between the Three Coins and the Galaxy Motel, both of which housed Bonanza.
The casino became popular for its country music shows, and singer Buck Ove made his Las Vegas strip debut in 1969.

Kerkorian’s Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) company purchased Bonanza and the adjacent land in December 1971. MGM planned to build a resort complex on the property called MGM’s Grand Hotel after the 1932 MGM film Grand Hotel.
The opening of the MGM Grand Hotel took place simply on December 4, 1973. The following evening, a grand opening ceremony was held with celebrity appearances.
The MGM Grand was designed by architect Martin Stern Jr. and was considered luxurious. It has hundreds of chandeliers and marble statues and columns.

A few days after the show, character actor Chill Will became the first person to get married at the new resort.
And within weeks of opening, it was announced that finishing touches to the resort would increase the $106 million cost by another $20 million.
On November 21, 1980, the MGM Grand suffered a fire that broke out in the casino’s restaurant. It was one of the worst garden fires in United States history, killing 85 people.

Over the next eight months, the rest of the MGM Grand was rebuilt at a cost of $50 million, which included the introduction of new fire safety features.
On July 29, 1981, the MGM Grand had a very simple reopening, followed by an official opening the following day. There were no grand celebrations on the two opening days.

A hotel spokesman said: “Given what happened in November, it would be inappropriate to have a large celebration.”
The sale of the two hotels was completed in April 1986 for $550 million and transferred to the Bally brand.
In July 1986, a man secretly planted a pipe ball in the resort’s sportsbook and later demanded $200,000 from the casino, threatening to detonate the ball if he did not receive the money. The bomb was found by the authorities and detonated outside the resort, exploding only for firecracker purposes. The man was found and arrested.
In 1991, a small fire broke out on one side of a Bally’s sign along the Las Vegas Strip. Workers were replacing the sign’s lighting during the fire, which caused $250,000 in damage.
Bally’s Las Vegas Sets Reopening Date For Hotel, Restaurants, And Pool
In 1993, Bally’s announced plans to build a new trance along the Las Vegas Strip on a three-acre property that had been used as a resort parking lot. Trance would include moving tracks and was expected to be completed by 1994.
The new trance was developed by Brad Friedmutter. Moveable walkways were added to account for the distance between the resort cross beam and the sidewalk along the lane.
Which opened in June 1995. It moved from Bally’s to a new MGM Grand resort further south on the Strip.
Star Trek: Insurrection had its world premiere at the resort’s Jubilee Theater on December 10, 1998.

Bally’s sister property, Paris Las Vegas, opened in September 1999. Paris was closely integrated with the Bally estate through promade. For many years, the two resorts operated under a single gaming license.
Ballie’s exterior was painted, including the addition of blue stripes, to make it better prepared for the Paris opening.
Park Place launched Bally’s Wheel in 2000, including upgrades to hotel rooms, casino floors, meeting rooms and restaurants.
The sign is 150 feet tall and cost $10 million, making it the most expensive sign on the strip at the time of its installation. The sign has three sides, each with a large Mitsubishi Diamond overlay. In addition to promoting the resort, Park Place also offered the sign to other advertisers.

Bally’s chief said it would eventually transform the trance, saying “something has to be done because the land is too valuable to sit there”.
In 2010, Harrah’s became Caesars Tertainmt Corporation. In 2013, the 756-room South Tower was remodeled and named the Jubilee Tower in honor of the resort’s long-standing show, Jubilee!
