Casino In Marina Bay Sands – SINGAPORE: As of midday on Wednesday (July 21), Singapore has reported 179 new local cases of COVID-19, of which 130 are linked to the Jurong Fishing Port cluster and eight to the KTV cluster.
There are currently 454 cases linked to the Jurong Fishing Port/Hong Lim Market & Food Center cluster, making it the largest active cluster in the country.

Among the new cases announced on Wednesday, 149 were linked to previous infections, 80 had already been quarantined and 69 were detected during testing.

The remaining 30 infections are unrelated to previous cases, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its next update.
The four newly infected people are elderly people over 70 who have not been vaccinated and are at risk of serious illness, the Ministry of Health announced.
There were also two imported infections that were housed or isolated upon arrival. Both developed the disease while at home or during periods of isolation.
Two new clusters were identified: the Marina Bay Sands Casino cluster with a total of 11 cases and the Case 65231 cluster with four infections.
When Was Marina Bay Sands Built?
The Ministry of Health announced that it is investigating cases of infection with COVID-19 among people who worked at or visited the Marina Bay Sands Casino.
Eleven cases have so far been linked to the cluster, and the Ministry of Health said its epidemiological investigations revealed that transmission was likely underway at the casino.
In order to break the chain of transmission and ensure a thorough cleaning of the premises, the Marina Bay Sands Casino will be closed to all members of the public from July 22nd to August 5th.
Free testing for COVID-19 will be extended to citizens who visited the Marina Bay Sands Casino between July 7 and 21.

A total of 22 cases were identified among individuals working or visiting Clementi 448 Market & Food Center, while 12 were identified at the Whampoa Drive market.
Both markets will be closed to all citizens from July 22 to August 5 in order to break the chain of transmission and allow for a deep cleaning of the premises.
These two markets are the last to be connected to the Jurong Fishing Port cluster. Other markets include Chong Boon Market and Food Center, Chong Pang Market, Haig Road Market and Food Center and Hong Lim Market and Food Center.
The Ministry of Health also announced that free testing for COVID-19 will be extended to those who visited Clementi 448 Market & Food Center at Clementi Avenue 3 and Haig Road Market & Food Center between July 7 and 21.

As an added layer of protection to help detect cases and prevent further transmission, the Ministry of Health said it is working with the League of Nations to distribute rapid antigen self-testing (ART) kits to people who have visited selected markets and food centers in the past 14 days.
The collection will be held July 22-23 at the Resident Committee Centers near Whampoa Drive Market and 726 West Coast Market.
The Ministry of Health said those eligible for DRT kits are “strongly encouraged” to collect and use them. You can find more information about self-collection online.

All visitors are advised to closely monitor their health and minimize social interactions as much as possible for 14 days from the date of visit or interaction.
“Also, we recommend all visitors to markets and food establishments to avoid crowds and advertising outside of peak hours or in supermarkets, as well as to strictly adhere to safety measures,” announced the Ministry of Health.
The total number of new cases in the community increased from 88 cases in the week to 766 cases last week.

None of these eight cases were fully vaccinated. Two elderly people over the age of 60 fell seriously ill, one of whom was completely unvaccinated and the other partially vaccinated, the Ministry of Health announced.

From Thursday, as Singapore returns to Phase 2 (High Alert) to deal with the rising number of COVID-19 cases, on-site dining will be suspended and group sizes for social events will be reduced to two people.
The measures will be in place until August 18 and replace measures introduced on Monday, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday.
